About Angela
Experience, curiosity and a belief in meaningful change
Angela Topping founded Conscience Coaching and Consulting CIC to help individuals, groups and teams understand what matters and create meaningful change.
Meet Angela
Angela cares deeply about people: about how we lead, how we support one another, and how we create environments where people feel valued, heard and able to be themselves.
A Chartered Management Accountant by profession, Angela began her career in NHS finance before moving into higher education and health research at Newcastle University. In 2018, she became Head of the Newcastle Joint Research Office, a partnership between Newcastle University and Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where she led a diverse team supporting health and care research.
But it was her experience during the COVID-19 research response that changed her perspective. Like many people, she was reminded of how important our wellbeing, relationships and sense of purpose really are. It made Angela reflect on what matters to her and the kind of difference she wanted to make.

A new direction
That reflection led her in a new direction. Alongside her professional career, Angela became a Mental Health First Aider, a Listening Volunteer, Trainer and Mentor with Samaritans and a qualified Personal Trainer. She also completed an MSc in Coaching and Mentoring, graduating in 2023, and in 2025 qualified as a Lowland Leader.
In 2024, Angela made the decision to leave her role and create something of her own: Conscience Coaching and Consulting, a Community Interest Company bringing together her professional experience, coaching skills and commitment to social justice. She provides coaching, consulting, wellbeing walks and wellbeing retreats to support people and organisations to grow, develop and make a positive difference. Angela specialises in one-to-one coaching outdoors, where she uses the natural environment to support reflection, wellbeing and personal growth.
At the heart of Angela’s work is a simple belief: people matter, and when people are supported to be their best, everyone benefits.

Why Conscience?
Angela’s decision to establish Conscience was shaped by the difference she had seen coaching and mentoring make, her love of the outdoors and her MSc research into women’s experiences of solution-focused coaching outdoors while working in paid health and care roles.
She brings together professional training and lived experience of working in high-pressure, hierarchical and highly governed environments. Angela is an Associate of EMCC UK and a member of its health and wellbeing special interest group. She is also a qualified personal trainer, Lowland Leader and outdoor first aider.
Conscience is a Community Interest Company. Its structure reflects Angela’s commitment to social justice, societal change and widening access to professional coaching and consulting.
